Beginners Welcome!

Our strategic progressive program is intended to build great fundamental Petrov model vaulters from the ground up. Athletes will learn to master the:

Approach Run

Plant
Take-off
Drive-swing
Swing-up
Pull-Turn
Bar Clearance

We also work on developing pole vault specific strength, speed, flexibility, gymnastic ability, and agility.

We use many pole vault drills, and mechanisms for training, including; sliding boxes, high ropes, high bars, vault trainers, free weights, bungees, trampolines, swinging bars, e-z plant poles, and many more...

The Petrov Model was developed by Olympic coach Vitaly Petrov, who coached both current men’s, and women’s world record holders, Sergey Bubka, and Yelena Isinbayeva. The Petrov Model vault focus on maximizing energy input into the pole, and minimizing energy waste after takeoff. When you learn how to vault with this model, you will not plateau off, or hit any barrier until you have reached an elite level, at which point, your speed and takeoff strength will be your only limiting factors.

The FPVA training model is not like typical “pole vault camps” or “practices” that you may have been to in the past. We will not be taking full vaults for 2 hours 3x per week, and just having a coach give you feedback on your vaults. Our goal is to build CHAMPIONS, not average high school pole vaulters.

We will be learning and mastering the Petrov pole vault model in phases. You will not advance to phase 2 until phase 1 is mastered and consistent. The reasons for this –

1.not building bad habits.

2.can not properly takeoff unless run is correct.

3. can not properly swing up/invert until takeoff is correct.

4. can not properly pull/turn unless take-off and inversion are correct.

5. Bar clearance will not matter unless you are jumping above your top hand grip height.

We emphasize safe vaulting and learning fundamental techniques. We build a great vault, and great vaulters from the ground up.
